Gaomei Wetland in Qingshui
Gaomei Wildlife Conservation is a nature reserve in the west coast of Taiwan. Located in the west of Qingshui Township including Dajia River mouth, it is a coastal wetland formed by the alternation of fresh and tidal water. It was used to be the beach, but silt and sand carried by Dajia River has formed the current wetland since the embankment in Taichung Harbor North Shore was built up. Respectively from the north and south of the reserve, the fresh water of Qingshui Big Drain and Dajia River infuse into the reserve, in which the most attention-getting species are Yunlin Wando grass and Daan Hygrophila, the two kinds of endangered plants.
